I saw in the 5/21/12 board minutes that there is a project for repair work on the Prarie & Bear Creek bridges in Benton County.
We took a bike ride on the trail from Urbana to Brandon a couple of weeks ago. It’s pretty overgrown, in terms of low-hanging branches, as well as grass almost completely covering the trail north of the Bear Creek bridge. There are also numerous potholes and one very dangerous “sand trap” at one gravel road intersection. Apologies that I didn’t note which intersection it was, but it was approx 6 miles north of Urbana.
I was wondering if there are any plans to work on that section of the trail, when it would take place, and whether volunteers are needed.
Thanks for taking the time to read the board minutes and share your thoughts! I’ll talk to the ranger responsible for this area and follow up with you!
I talked to the ranger for this area. Based on your description, he believes you are referring to an area that is actually managed by Blackhawk County. Their telephone number is: (319) 433-7275. Good luck!
